Definition of a Tertiary Effluent Treatment Plant is the final polishing part of the palm oil mill effluent treatment process. Upon existing ponding or tanks system, the effluent or ‘POME’ will enter the tertiary section to be treated to a lower BOD level and suspended solid level.

The composting is defined as the natural bacterial decomposition and hydrolysis of complex molecules such as cellulose carbon, protein & fats. The final product consists of simpler and shorter chain carbons, nitrates, phosphates, potassium and other minerals.
